| Intercrystalline
corrosion |
 |
If intercrystalline corrosion occurs, the grain peripheries of the material
are attacked. This corrosion attack impairs the local bonding of the
structure and the material is weakened.
Alloys with deposits at the grain peripheries are particularly prone
to this type of corrosion.
