Design and Protection

The anodising process is changing the aluminium surface into an aluminium oxide layer by anodic oxidation in the top aluminium zone. There is a 5 to 25 µm thin, durable hard layer, which protects against corrosion. The oxide layer grows forming columns to about 2/3 within material and 1/3 builds up externally.

Surface composition according to DIN 17611 (Pre-Treatment-Options)

E0 - degreasing
Without mechanical or chemical pre-treatment (scratches and defects remain visible). Used for unseen surfaces in the background.

E1 - Grinding
Grinded decorative surface with a clear directional structure and a smooth matt-finished appearance.

E2 - Brushing
Brushed matt-finished surface with an easy-to-care, fine structure (brush strokes).

E3 - Polishing
Polished shiny and blank surface for interior products.

E4 - Grinding and Brushing
Grinded and brushed uniform glossy surface. Mechanical surface-defects are fixed.

E5 - Grinding and Polishing
Grinded and polished surface with a smooth shiny "noble" appearance. Best elimination of mechanical surface-defects.

E6 - Pickling
Chemical pre-treatment (alkaline solution) with an uniform material removal and smooth matt gloss. Mechanical surface-defects are equalized (no complete elimination).
